I'm pimping my favorite comm again! Seriously, this month marks the one year anniversary of the comm. When my friend Lori first told me about it, I was a tad bit skeptical. I had gotten sort of jaded with writing, concentrating only on how it could bring profit. I'd forgotten the simple joy of creation and telling stories. I'd forgotten how to write out of passion. And it's Writerverse that brought it back to me. So I'll always be so grateful to this comm! Now that I'm in love with my craft again, my writing is better than ever and I am starting to see profits and results. :)

The fact that Headmaster Snape was married at all was enough to make most of the Hogwarts students shake their heads in confusion. That he was married to a younger, beautiful woman was even more puzzling. But here they were, mismatched as they might be, content and warm after making love on their fifth anniversary.

"They said it wouldn't last..." He drawled teasingly to his wife.

"Love is the only thing that lasts." She kissed him softly.

Let them say what they will, Severus Snape had finally found the two things he thought he would never find...love and happiness.

****************************

Severus hated fancy gatherings, and now that they were on the fifth year anniversary of the Second War's end, he was feeling rather intolerant of this trampling up of old ghosts.

He sat there, trying to look humble instead of annoyed and listen to Minister Shacklebolt ramble on. In the row in front of him, Ron Weasley was falling asleep. On one side of him, Harry Potter looked thoughtful. On the other, Severus' own wife and children.

When his two year old daughter started howling loud enough to stop the Minister's speech, Severus smiled for the first time that day.

****************************

"Severus..." Sera frowned in concern. "Are you sure five isn't too young for a training broom?"

"Nonsense, Shane is very smart for his age," Severus scoffed lightly as they watched the boy flying around on his birthday present.

"Look what I can do!" Their son called out then, streaking past them perhaps a little too fast, throwing his hands up in the air. "See? No hands!"

Severus winced as he saw Shane slip off the broom and hit the grass with a soft thud. He didn't have to turn his head to feel Sera glaring daggers at him. "Oh crap."

****************************

"This is my fifth year as Headmaster at this school," Severus intoned solemnly. "And every year, it is my wish to see this school become stronger and better. My staff and I can teach you to ensnare the senses, bewitch the mind, and fulfill your destinies..."

He frowned a little. Merlin did he hate making these speeches. "...and if you misbehave, I will have your arse and make you regret the day you were born."

As he sat back down, Minerva McGonagall gave him a disapproving frown. He merely smiled in return. She had her way, he had his.

****************************

After a day of chasing a group of five year old girls around Seraphina was exhausted and glad to give Severus the children while she tried to clean up the aftermath of their daughter's birthday party. It was also the perfect time for Severus to give his daughter a special present just from him. After all, she was Daddy's little girl.

"Ohhhhhh!" Sapphire's eyes widened when she saw the collection of classic wizarding books for children in the package. "Daddy, do we have to wait until bedtime to read them? Can't we start now?"

A child after his own heart.

Coyote Ugly

Well, Friday and Saturday were very quiet around here as we all recouperated and unwound after Mom's procedure and brief hospital visit. Sunday started that way too, but then around early afternoon it took a twist....

Our German Shepard, Casey, was raising holy Hell outside in the dog's pen and when I brought him in he was still going nuts. I couldn't figure out what was going on, so I chalked it up to a squrriel or rabbit. It's a good thing my father saw the hole in the latice work that seperates the porch from the pen. Unfortuntely, Rusy, the Beagle, found it first and that's what Casey was freaking out about.

As I've said before, St. Franics works over time at our house. And we'd barely made it down the driveway to go find Rusty when he came running through the neighbor's yard. He was quite pleased with himself, but at least he came back. Before we got Casey he wouldn't come home on his own and we'd have to find him or a neighbor would end up bringing him back.

After a brief investigation it was obvious that something had torn the hole in from the outside, not inside the pen. And there were some tracks that looked dog but not dog around, so I decided to check a few things out on the internet. Honestly, I had a hunch because every winter I can hear the coyotes getting closer and closer. Last year around this time one was ran over at the corner of our road. And ten minutes on google confirmed my suspicions...they were coyote tracks.

I'm kind of shaken up! My little Marty wouldn't stand a chance against a coyote, I don't think any of our dogs would expect Casey. And if the coyote took the effort to break into the pen, he must have smelled our dogs and either thought dog smell meant food, or the dogs WERE food. Scary. Thank God spring is starting to show a little, because I'm going to have to go out with them at night...with my handy snow shovel.

So my date this afternoon fizzled out completely. He emails me at the very last minute to tell me it was off and he couldn't call. No reason given. Douchebag. So what did I do? I went shopping with my Daddy. He took me out for pizza and when we went to Wal-Mart he bought me a My Little Pony.(Rainbow Dash, love her with the wings!) She's sitting next to me now, keeping me company as I try to polish off another chapter of my novel. At least I know I'll always be Daddy's Little Girl.

Hope my date tomorrow does better, because out of all the guys I've talked to for his ad, he seems to have the most potential. Cross your fingers for me, guys! I don't need a man to live, but the road is a little more fun to go down with two. :)

Let me just state for the record...winter sucks, seasonal depression sucks and most of all, dieting sucks. I want to drop ten pounds by my birthday at the end of April. Right now I'm living on coffee, Slim Fast, water and one meal a day. *cries*

To distract myself from the candy that comes this time a year, I'm doing the Kiss Bingo prompt challenge. So watch here for some fics. I'm getting myself a paid flickr account for V-Day, since there is no Mr. Mimi this year. At least it won't make my butt fatter...and I am falling in love with photography, plus I need to do my doll collection for insurance purposes.

With V-Day a week away, anyone got big plans?

Okay...I suck. I seem to be having a horrible time keeping up with my journals and blog right now. Alot of it, I think, is that this is the hardest time of the year for me. I have seasonal depression and usually by February I am going up the walls waiting for sunlight and temps above 50. So I apologize! I'm doing a rather craptastic job of it. But I have faith, and every day it stays light a little bit longer. In another month I'll be in hyper-active mode. So it all balances out, I think. :)

In an unrealted note, I'll be posting my Blizzard of 2011 photos tomorrow. We got SIXTEEN inches! When it was all over, though, and the sun came out right before dusk, it was really beautiful. This is why I stay in Michigan...despite the depression that sometimes comes with winter and the burning hot summer...I love the seasons.

Wow! If you've looked at the weather today, you've seen about a third of the country is under a huge winter storm. Well, the entire lower pennisula of Michigan, where I live, is under a blizzard warning until tomorrow night! Thankfully I've got a stack of books and some cross stitching to keep me amused if necessary, but I am going to be upset if the power goes out. I hate being cold, and it makes my asthma a real problem. But hey, it's an adventure, right? :)

It's coming down hard right now. The main road right by us is almost impassable. (We live in the country-burbs) I haven't heard any planes go over for a couple of hours now, which is odd since we're about a 1/4 mile from the airport. We haven't had such a quiet stretch since 9/11. The funny thing is, live that close to an airport for 20+ years and when you notice the planes is when they AREN'T there. But I'm rambling. It's exciting and I will take pictures later on. Now where's that yardstick?

I FINISHED THE FIRST CHAPTER OF MY NOVEL!!!!!!!

It's uphill from here, folks! :D

And I had a pretty cute picture of a praying mantis on the LJ and IJ versions of this post, but DW doesn't let you upload stuff. :(

Oh well, nothing can kill my high tonight! :D

I'm really surprised, but I found myself really enjoying the new American Idol tonight. I thought it would be weird without Simon, but it wasn't. I mean, Simon is great eye candy, but he can be a downer sometimes. I was surprised that Steven Tyler seems to be a really nice, intelligent guy. Still have no idea why some girls find him sexy, but there's plenty who don't get my Alan Rickman and Jeff Goldblum crushes. :P

And that's my deep thought for the night.

Early Morning
April Four
A shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last
They took your life
They could not take your pride

In the name of love
What more for the name of love?
